“Why do I make Art…because I have to”

My experience in art goes back as long as I can remember, from drawings as a child to graphic designing and complex computer animations. After graduating from CSU of Pueblo with a degree in Art, I went on to become a graphic designer, which I have done for the last 12 years.

Although most of my professional work lies in my graphic designs, recently I have found myself going back to the Fine Arts. For me its time to go back a few years, when creativity came from a collection of thoughts, and the only way to gain visual reality and bring something to the world that can only be created from the artist inner thoughts.

Although I still keep up with computer imagery, Its now created from my own experiences and feelings. Alot of my work recently has been created with clay. Each piece comes from a simple theme. I begin with no solid image in my mind, I think of movement, human emotions and color in space and I let the clay do the rest. For many years I used glaze on my pieces, but recently I have begun a new adventure and started using paint and texture.

If what I create with my hands brings me success or not, I will always remember art is not always what others see, but the vision the artist believes in.

Art happens when the hand touches the soul.
